Alan Bridges

Alan Thomas Bridges of Blountstown passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at his home at the age of 61. Alan was born in Tallahassee, Florida and was retired from Florida Department of Corrections and was employed with Gadsden Corrections. He was a member of Blountstown Community Church where he served as a deacon. He was a diehard Alabama fan and avid Beatle fan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Ann Barfield Bridges; his father, Jack Reed Bridges; paternal grandparents, Dr. Shelton Sorrell and his beloved grandmother, Mary Ann (McClellan) Bridges; his maternal grandparents, Charles Christensen and Leah Davis; and his brother, James Reed Bridges. Survivors include his loving wife, Sarah Kathryn Bridges of Blountstown; his son, Anderson Reed Bridges and his wife, Rachel of Blountstown; step-sons, James Gregory Brooks and his wife, Jessica of Panama City, Thomas Allen Brooks and his wife, Cynthia of Altha, and Christopher G. Phillips and his wife, Rebecca of Sycamore; a daughter Michelle Brown and her husband, Stacy of Bristol; his mother, Norma Donna Bridges of Blountstown; his step-mother, Ruby M. Bridges of Blountstown; two sisters, Grace Donna Barfield and her husband, Bobby of Palatka, Florida and Mary Sue Neves and her husband, Richard of Blountstown; step-sisters, Patricia Hires and her husband, Billy of Blountstown and Ann Kincaid and her husband, Kenny of Hosford; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Blountstown Community Church with Reverend Larry Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31 at Adams Funeral Home. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Phone 674-5449.
