Doris Eubanks Traylor was born in Liberty County on July 28, 1922. She passed peacefully at the home of her daughter in Apopka, Florida, on December 1, 2024, with her children by her side. She was 102 years old. Doris was raised on a working farm in Bristol with her parents, Bertus and Byrd Eubanks, and her six siblings. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Blountstown, having joined as a newlywed in 1945. She enjoyed serving on various committees, as well as teaching and holding leadership roles. Following her retirement from Calhoun General Hospital, she enjoyed being a part of civic groups which focused on improving the landscape and overall appearance of Blountstown. The Blountstown Garden Club, Keep Calhoun County Beautiful and Main Street brought her much joy and fulfillment. She was happiest when she was working in her yard. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and was one of the few remaining matriarchs of the idyllic section of South Pear Street fondly referred to as Parker Town.
She is predeceased by her husband, Royce Traylor, her parents Bertus and Byrd Eubanks, her brothers Paul (Iona), Silas (Florence), Wilhoit (Iris). And her sisters Dessie Marr (Bill) and Betty Traylor (Cephus).
She is survived by her daughter Sue Porter (Ed) and her son Merrill Traylor (Donna). Her three grandsons Matthew Porter (Stephanie), Christopher Porter (Mikelle), Jonathan Porter (Savannah) and her 6 great grandchildren, Asher Porter, Emmalyn Porter, Kensley Porter, Jaxon Porter, Cohen Porter, and Townes Porter. She also leaves behind the youngest of her siblings, Johnny Eubanks and his wife Beth as well as her very special nieces and nephews.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. CST Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Blountstown with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST.
