Edward Whitfield

Edward Norman Whitfield of Bristol passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home at the age of 77. He was born in Lloyd, Florida August 17, 1933 to the late Walter L. and Mattie (Locke) Whitfield. He was a retired road superintendant for Liberty County and also served in the U. S. Army during the Korean conflict. He is preceded in death by brothers, Rex & Jack Brinson Whitfield; sisters, Fay Semon & Hazel Whitfield; & his granddaughter, Sydney Doll Whitcomb. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean of Bristol; two sons, Stephen Norman (Patricia) Whitfield and Jeffery Alan Whitfield, both of Bristol; two daughters, Sandra 'Sissy' (Rob) Doll of Columbus, Georgia and Vickie (Scott) Woodward of Tallahassee; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Whitfield of Bristol and Eddie Wayne Whitfield of Ashford, Alabama; two sisters, Imogene Tolar of LaBelle Florida and Helen Danley of Blountstown; and a very special friend to the family, Richard Fowler. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. EST, Sunday, May 15, 2011 in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Coy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol with full military honors. The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, May 14 at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. Flowers are welcome but should friends desire, memorials may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard, Tallahassee, Florida 32308-5428.
