Reverend George Beverly Baker, Jr. of Blountstown passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 in Blountstown at the age of 82. He was born in Blountstown December 22, 1928 to the late George, Sr. and Flossie (Russ) Baker. He was a U. S. Veteran who served during the Korean conflict. He retired as Director of Maintenance and Operations at Compton Community College in California in 1992 and moved back to Blountstown in 1993. He was a member and past commander of Blountstown American Legion. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Isaac Baker and Robert Baker. Survivors include his wife, Teresa; sons, Victor Baker of Oklahoma, Terry Baker of California, Trent Baker of California, Dwayne Baker of Tallahassee, and Dion Baker of California; daughters, Beverly Baker of Oklahoma, Linda Baker of Texas, Monica Gutierrez of Auburn, Alabama, Kellen Baker of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lecia Baker of Blountstown; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, John Baker of Blountstown, Syerences Baker of Miami, Florida, and Carlton Baker of Lynn Haven, Florida; sisters, Loretha Jones of Blountstown, Mae Gant of Port St. Joe, Florida, Lois Miller and Flossie Gautier of Lynn Haven, Florida, and Dorothy Mauzy of Jacksonville, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in the Chapel at Adams Funeral Home with Reverend David Jones, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in Magnolia Cemetery in Blountstown. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15 at the funeral home.
