Hazel Smith

Hazel Frances Smith, age 81, of Clarksville, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Blountstown. She was born May 16, 1929 in Altha, Florida and lived in Calhoun County most of her life. She was retired from Calhoun-Liberty Hospital where she was an administrative assistant for twenty-four years. She was a bus driver for Calhoun County School System for sixteen years and was a member of Traveler's Rest Freewill Baptist Church in Clarksville where she was a Sunday school teacher for thirty-two years. She graduated from Frink High School in 1947 where she was valedictorian and homecoming queen. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dewey Smith; a son, Roger Smith; an infant daughter, Janet Smith; a daughter-in-law, Tammy L. Smith; and her parents, Juiett and Lula Lee Melvin. She is survived by four sons, Ralph Smith, John Smith and his wife, Jennifer, Tim Smith and his wife, Becky, all of Clarksville, and Sam Smith and his wife, Tanya of Blountstown, Florida; three daughters, Brenda Williams and her husband, Johnny of Tallahassee, Florida, Frances Smith of Clarksville, and Hilda Willis and her husband, Al of Altha, Florida; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eunice Chance of Marianna, Florida. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Traveler's Rest Freewill Baptist Church with Dr. Shawn Williams officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 21 at Adams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery.
