Helen Doran Brown, 85, of Bristol, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, in Tallahassee, Florida. Helen was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 14, 1937, to the late Harry and Iva Doran and has lived in Liberty County most of her life. Helen had a high school education (where she played the drums in the band) and later in life, completed a program certificate in computer programming. She worked many years for the Department of Labor and Employment Security and the Division of Commerce where she retired after 35 years of service. She was a long-time member of the Bristol Church of God since 1962 where she taught Sunday School for many years. In her retirement she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, crocheting, painting and just about anything art and craft related. She loved spending time with her family and traveling, especially cruises where she could always be found hanging out wherever the soft serve ice cream was located.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Willis Jack Brown, her parents, Harry and Iva Doran, her siblings, Ralph Hopkins, Richard Doran, James Doran, Roberta Whitley, her step mother Beth Doran, and her son-in-law Jeff McFalls.
Survivors include her sons, Ricky Brown and wife Kathy, Steve Brown, and Buddy Brown and wife Sandra, her daughters, Christie Green and husband Wayne, Libby Stewart and husband Mike, step-daughter Lisa McMillian and husband Lee, her sister Audrey Anderson Booth, nineteen grandchildren, thirtytwo great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, a special niece Diane Smith and husband Mike as well as two exchange students that she was like a mother to, Klas Henriksson and Darshan Montesinos.
Services to celebrate and to honor Helen's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2023 at the Bristol Church of God, at 19102 NW State Road 12, Bristol, Fl, with Reverend Terry Blackburn officiating, Internment will follow in Bristol Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
