Houston Broward Flanders, Sr. 78 of Blountstown, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at his home. Houston was born in Altha, Florida, September 10, 1940 to the late Millard and Ruby (Porter) Flanders. Houston was a veteran serving in the US Army and was owner and operator of Flanders Sew and Vac. He was a member of the Blountstown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a son Wendell Flanders and a sister, Rethie Darlene McCroan. Survivors include his wife Mattie Louise Tipton Flanders; sons, Houston Flanders, Jr. of Tampa, Timothy Flanders and his wife Amelda of Blountstown; a daughter, Julie Flanders Dunn and her husband Michael of Panama City; a step-son, Bobby Harrell Tipton of Clarksville; brothers, Marlin Flanders and his wife Ruby of Altha and Don Flanders of Bristol; sisters, Gloria Wilson and her husband Daniel of Altha; grandchildren, Kira Seay, Meredeth Flanders, Christopher Flanders, Alex Contreras, Jesus Contreras, Maritza Clemons, Ruby Contreras, Holly Abraham, Sarah Kelley, Michael Dunn, Jr., Aimee Hanvey, Christopher Tipton and Jeffery Tipton and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral services will he held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the chapel. Interment will follow in the Wood Cemetery in Blountstown. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
