Ivan Leroy Chase, age 69, of Chattahoochee, Florida died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 3 at his home in Chattahoochee. Ivan was born January 21, 1944 in Galena, Missouri and graduated from Galena High School. After high school he joined the United States Army and after his tour in the Army, he moved to Florida and worked as a mason and settled in the Chattahoochee area. Ivan retired from the Florida State Hospital in 2006. He was an active member of his church and a devout Christian. Ivan was a kind, gentle man and was always willing to help his fellow man. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Samuel. Survivors include his wife Louise of thirty-eight years; three daughters, Jennifer, Blinda, and Marilyn; four sons, John, Aaron, Mark, and David; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jessie, Fred, and Ralf; and five sisters, Edith, Ester, Barbara, Kaye, and Vera. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 4 at First Baptist Church, 503 South Main Street in Chattahoochee. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5 at the church. Interment will follow in Meacham Cemetery in Bristol, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to The Florida Baptist Children's Home, P. O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802.
