Ivan Eugene Nissley

August 2, 1943 — April 10, 2025

Blountstown, FL

Ivan Eugene Nissley, a devoted servant of the Lord and cherished member of his community, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on April 10, 2025, at the age of 81, in Blountstown, Florida. Born on August 2, 1943, in Garnett, Kansas, Ivan dedicated his life to his faith, family, and the many people he served throughout his varied career.

A passionate follower of Jesus Christ, Ivan first pursued the calling to pastor, leading the Bethel Mennonite Church and most recently serving at Red Oak Church. His love for preaching the word was evident to all who had the pleasure of hearing him share his message of hope and grace.

Besides his pastoral work, Ivan had a diverse career that reflected his hands-on approach to life. He owned Nissley's Lawn Mower Repair, drove a school bus, and was a farmer. Yet, what defined him more than his career was his warm and generous personality. Ivan was always willing to lend a hand, embodying kindness and dedication to those around him. He deeply loved the people he served, making meaningful connections in every endeavor.

Ivan's interests extended beyond his professional life. He enjoyed traveling and camping, finding great joy in the beauty of nature. Many fond memories were made while sitting on his porch, where he loved to relax and reflect. He often spent time at the senior center, connecting with friends and enriching their lives with his laughter and companionship.

Ivan leaves behind a loving family that includes his beloved wife, JoAnn Nissley, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years. He is also survived by his daughters, Lanora Nissley and Joy Nissley, grandson Austin Nissley, and his brothers Lonnie and Chris Nissley. Ivan's sisters, Mary Bell, Ann Hochstedler, Heidi Smucker, Marie Detwiler, Carolyn Ebersole, Pauline Miller, and Trevea Shrock also survive him, alongside a host of family and friends who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Sarah Nissley, his daughter Janice Lynn Nissley, and his brothers Nelson, Leroy, Ira, and John Nissley. His absence is keenly felt, but the legacy of his love and devotion to his faith and family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Visitation will take place on April 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at Rivertown Community Church beginning at 11:00 AM. Ivan's life was a testament to his unwavering faith and boundless love, and he will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
