Reverend James Pelt, age 82, of Blountstown, Florida passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in Blountstown. He was a retired educator and minister. He taught at Blountstown High School for twenty-five years and served in churches in Florida, Georgia and Alabama for fifty-four years. He was a member of Blountstown First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cary and Georgia (Sellers) Pelt and a grandson, Brandon Barbee He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Martin Pelt of Blountstown; daughters, Donna Maloy and her husband, Mike of Carrabelle, Florida and Georgia Barbee of Blountstown; grandchildren, Chris Mears and his wife, Nancy, Ashley Britt and her husband, Kasey, and Matthew and Jim Barbee; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Thomas Cauley, Gabe Britt, and Collin, Allyson and Brooks Ann Mears; a brother, Dr. Michael Pelt and his wife, Betty of Mt. Olive, North Carolina; sisters, Myrtle Stanco of North Carolina, Jeannette Townsend of Chipley, Florida and Bonnie Hall of Blountstown; a special cousin, John Pelt of Panama City, Florida; and a special brother-in-law, Hodges R. Martin and his wife, Eunice of Marianna, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Reverend David Throckmorton and Reverend Dustin Malphurs officiating. Interment will follow in Nettle Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 9 at Adams Funeral Home.
