Jimmie Lee Burkett

Jimmie Lee Burkett, Sr. 79 of Apalachicola, FL passed away on August 27, 2024, after a long battle with dementia. Jimmie was born October 11, 1944, in Indian Pass, Florida to the late Alto Lee Burkett and Martha Jane Burkett. He was 1 out of 10 children. Jimmie graduated from Port St Joe High School in 1962 and served in the National Guard.

Jimmie married the love of his life Denise Johnson Burkett on December 28, 1972, and worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing, camping, nature and spending time with his wife, son and grandchildren.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife Denise; his parents, Alto and Martha; his brothers, Lewis, Donald, Billy, Lonnie and his sisters, Nellie Parrish and Mae Todd.

Jimmie is survived by his son, Jimmie Lee Burkett, Jr. (Heather), his grandchildren, Kristen Kennington (Morgan), Preston Burkett and Zoey Burkett; a brother, Eugene Burkett and two sisters, Floria Lolley and Gloria Quick.
