Lillie Elizabeth Smith of Blountstown passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Blountstown at the age of 98. She was born September 16, 1912 to the late James Daniel and Alice (McClellan) Boggs. She was born in Blountstown; moved to Marianna in 1931; lived in Savannah, Georgia for awhile; then moved back to Blountstown in 1961. She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Savannah and was active in Women's Auxiliary and the Altar Guild. When she returned to Blountstown, she worked in the office of her nephew, Dr. Lewis James Atkins and also ran the Airport Motel with her husband, Fletcher. She was one of Calhoun County's Golden Girls. She loved a good joke; loved to dance; and always joked that she was "the youngest and prettiest" of her sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fletcher; two sons, John Anthony Fletcher Smith, Jr. and James Albert Daniel Smith; a grandchild, Allyson Smith; two brothers, Burt and Vincent Boggs; four sisters, Minnie Green, Edith Brantley, Kate Ramsey, and Ireta Melvin. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Fetterolf of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011 in Boggs Cemetery with Reverend Jim Jines officiating. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
