Mr. Melvin Lockhart Sr, age 83, of Blountstown, FL, passed away on March 16, 2021 surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter in Jacksonville, FL. Our beloved father was born on April 4, 1937 in State Line, MS, to the late Estus and Ezella Lockhart. He is survived by six children: Melvin Lockhart, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; Yolanda Lockhart of Marianna, FL; Kenneth Lockhart of Blountstown, FL; Catherine (Timothy) Kinder of Dothan, AL; Anthony (Yolanda) Lockhart of Crawfordville, FL; and Michelle Rozier of Jacksonville FL; 15 grandchildren: Terence, Anu, Nathan, Timothy, Whitney, Shannie, Jonathan, Kevin, Jasmine, Raven, Mia, Kyrah, Sage, Joseph, and JoAnna;15 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Amos Lockhart of Dallas, TX; Martha (late Frank) Bishop of Chatom, AL; Doris Leverette and Elouise (David) Walley of State Line, MS. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding him in death were his daughter Stephanie Elkins and siblings: Joe Lockhart, Samuel Lockhart, L.D. Lockhart, Richard Lockhart, Howard Lockhart, Delma Lockhart Dockey, and Opal Lockhart Franks. Melvin worked for many years with the late Phillip Woodrow “Woody” Griffin and remained close to his family. A special thanks to the Griffin family for loving and supporting our father for many years. A special thanks to Community Hospice and Palliative Care of Jacksonville. Dr. Misbah Farooqi and all the staff of the Medical Center of Blountstown. Memorial services will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Viewing will be from 11am-12pm and memorial service will immediately follow at 12pm with Elder Steve Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Hugh Creek Cemetery.
