Shelby Shoemake

Shelby G. Shoemake, 79 of Bristol passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in Blountstown. Shelby was born October 12, 1939 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to the late William and Mollie (Langley) Shoemake. He moved to Liberty County in 1957 where he worked for Reichold chemical company and later began his own business, J&S Vault Company. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Shoemake Bryant and a granddaughter, Cassie O'Bryan Dabney. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Nance Shoemake of Bristol; sons, Tony Shoemake and his wife Leann of Blountstown and Tommy Shoemake and his wife Christi also of Blountstown; his daughters, Tammy Shoemake O'Bryan and her husband Ricky of Bristol, Debra Barber and her husband Gerald of Bristol, Karen Tomlinson and her husband David of Blountstown, Kathy Hayes and he husband Darrel of Bristol, Necy Deason and he husband Rob of Blountstown and Julie Scott and her husband Marty of Tennessee; sisters, Geraldine Bodiford of Tallahassee and Hester Barfield and her husband Clay of Tallahassee; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. A celebration of Shelby's life will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 from the Lake Mystic Baptist Church with Ravened Jerry Chumley, Reverend Doug Hemanes and Reverend Ryan McDougald officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the Church. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
