Shirley Faye Stone

Shirley Faye Stone, 83 of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, in Blountstown. Shirley was born in Clarksville to the late George and Ruth (Hollington) Newsome and worked as a supervisor with Florida State Hospital for 31 years before her retirement. She was a member of Carr Advent Church where she was the Sunday school superintendent for many years. Shirley was also very active in the local chapter of the Eastern Star where she served as Grand Matron, Trustee and Treasurer. She was preceded in death by her son, Dowling “Bill” Stone, Jr.; her brothers, Clyde, Junior and Dallas Newsome and a sister, Ann Chatwood. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Dowling Stone of Clarksville; her daughters, Sue Price and Cindy Welch both of Clarksville; a brother, J.C. Newsome of Frink; her sisters, Ella Luton and Eva Morris both of Clarksville; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Services to honor Shirley’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Troy Marks officiating. Interment will follow in Herndon Cemetery near Clarksville. The family will have a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Adams Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
