Sylvia Adkison

Sylvia McKinney Adkison, age 75, of East Point passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 in Tallahassee. Sylvia was born in Columbia, South Carolina, April 20, 1942 to the late Morris Woodrow McKinney and Mary Cranford (Whitesides) McKinney. She lived in Franklin County for thirty-nine years and opened Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic in East Point in 1996. In 2006, she was manager of North Florida Medical Center until her retirement in 2008. She taught dance for twelve years at Pam Nobles Studios. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Adkison and a grandson, Joshua Alan Phipps. Survivors include three sons, Rex Alan Phipps of Mobile, Dale Preston Phipps, of East Point, and Stephen Adkison, also of East Point; a grandchild, Kimberly Hollenbeck of East Point; a brother, John R. Mann of Wewahitchka, and a sister, Sandra J. McKinney of Columbia, South Carolina. Memorialization will be by cremation.
