Wanda Fortner

Wanda A. Fortner, age 79, of Blountstown, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at her home surrounded by friends and family. She was born February 5, 1931 in Orlando, Florida but she lived most of her life in Blountstown. She was well known as an avid Blountstown Tiger Supporter and the Tiger mascot for many years. She was an avid Gator fan and a beautiful Red Hat Lady. Wanda will be remembered for her bubbly personality and happy smile. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Fortner; a daughter, LaJuana Jean Downum; a grandson, Colby Fortner; and a brother, Laymon Parrish. Wanda is survived by daughters, Opal Brogdon of Wewahitchka, Florida, Dolly Shagnon of Miami Beach, Florida; Kathy Fortner of Blountstown and Dora Mosley of Blountstown; grandchildren, Cameo and Jeremy Fortner, Dee Dee Mosley, Jimmy, John, and Jake Downum, Jeanie Johnson, Wandie Bagette, and Charles and Candy Laird; numerous great-grandchildren; and best friends, Imogene and Gary Watterson. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 19 in Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dewayne Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow in Boggs Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home.
