Warren H. "Sudie" Barfield, a beloved member of the Blountstown community, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. Born on December 10, 1949, in Blountstown, Florida, Sudie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a profound love for the outdoors.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Sudie selflessly served two tours in Vietnam. His military experience shaped his character, instilling in him a strong sense of duty and resilience that he carried throughout his life. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Preventative Maintenance Supervisor with the Department of Corrections, where he contributed to the safety and well-being of the community.
Beyond his professional achievements, Sudie was known for his passion for hunting and fishing. He cherished the moments spent outdoors, whether it be casting a line or enjoying time at the camp, often sharing these experiences with family and friends. He also enjoyed building as well as teaching Bonita, his sister in law, how to do plumbing. His dogs were a source of great joy, bringing companionship and happiness to his everyday life.
Sudie was a devoted husband to his wife, Mary Ann Barfield, and a proud father to his three children: Elton Anthony "Bo" Barfield and his wife Selah, Duston "Dusty" Barfield, and Melissa Barfield. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Cheyanne, Mason, Ashley, Kristen, and Jackson, creating treasured memories that will be cherished by them for years to come. He is also survived by his brother, Cleve Barfield, and his wife, Jeanie.
Sudie's parents, Henry and Rody Barfield, preceded him in death, but his legacy of love and dedication will live on through his surviving family members and friends.
A visitation will be held in his honor on April 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown with Dustin Malphurs officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A very special thank you to Emerald Coast Hospice especially his two favorite nurses, Kelley and Morgan for the love and care they provided to him and our family.
