Wilford Monroe Deason of Bristol, Florida passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at the age of ninety-one. Wilford was a lifelong resident of Bristol and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Lion's Club, a Mason in Dixie Lodge 109 F&AM, and a member of the American Legion in Hosford, Florida. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Air Force. Wilford served as Liberty County Property Appraiser for twenty-four years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Abram and Julia Ethel (Peters) Deason, a brother Ralph Deason, sisters Lottie Peddie, Elsie Strickland and Lessie Revell. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Thelma of Bristol; a son, Michael (Dale) of Bristol; two daughters, Charis Thompson (Jack) of Gainesville, Florida and Sheila Shelton (Lamar) of Altha, Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a brother Carlos Deason (Ivaleen)of Quincy, Florida. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his community was evident to everyone he encountered. He was a hardworking man of integrity who also enjoyed gardening and cheering on the Florida Gators and he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. ET, Monday, July 15 at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. ET, Tuesday, July 16 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bristol with Bishop Buddy Money officiating. Interment will follow.
