Obituary of Maryell Dillard

Maryell Elizabeth Vickery Dillard went to be with the Lord in the early morning of May 18th 2022. A long-time resident of Altha, Maryell spent many years building strong friendships with her neighbors and raising her daughter with her husband, Boudie. Maryell will always be remembered for her giving nature, pleasant disposition, strong work ethic, and talents in the kitchen. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Angel, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she loved when her friends would drop by for a visit. She spent many-a-day driving a dump truck or grunting earth worms or shucking a thousand ears of corn; all at Boudie’s request. Yet very few of us ever heard a complaint. Anyone that met her was left with a smile and could not help but lover her. She will forever be remembered for the love and laughter she spread. Maryell was preceded in death by her father, Walter Vickery; mother, Eunice Womble Vickery Carter; husband, James M. “Boudie” Dillard; and brother, Emmitt Carter, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Angel Wallace (Daryl) of Clarksville; her grandson, Stephen Tatum (Becky) of Niceville; her granddaughter, Marsha Byrom (Jon) of Weisbaden, Germany; grandchildren, Will, Kristen, Julia, Mariella, Curt; a special nephew who she raised to the age of 7, Bobby Land (Mary); her brother Talmadge Vickery of Marianna and many very loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services to honor and to celebrate Maryell’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022, at Altha Church of God with Reverend Allan Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Chipola Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Monday. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
