Obituary of Hazel Douberley Eddleman

Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hazel Douberley Eddleman, of Telogia, Florida, passed away on August 9, 2022, at the age 96. Hazel was born in Quincy, Florida to Frances Mary Brown Douberley and Richard Bartow Douberley. She attended Liberty County High School and graduated in 1944. Hazel worked for the State of Florida, retiring from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles after 35 years of service. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church including volunteering at the Thrift Store, and spending quality time with her friends. Hazel is survived by her children, James Gary Eddleman and wife Barbara of Longmont, Colorado, Richard “Bud” Eddleman and wife Debbie of Telogia, Florida, Deborah “Debbie” Brown and husband, Larry of Hosford, Florida and Kathleen “Kathy” Brown and husband Ricky of Bristol, Florida. She leaves eight grandchildren, Jason Eddleman, Justin Eddleman, Tammy Russell and husband Brett, Michael Richter and wife, Heather, Monica Guy, Richard Garett Eddleman, Ryan Eddleman, and Nikki Kathleen Johnson and husband Luke. Her legacy also includes fourteen great grandchildren, Chayes Eddleman, Noah, Carson, and Lacey Russell, Makayla Geiger, Kassidi and Korie Eddleman, Brayden and Maddie Grace Richter, Sophie and Hudson Guy, and Ellie, Logan, and Landry Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Walter Milton “Buck” Douberley and three sisters, Ellen Scarabin, Lorene Duncan and Yvonne Atchison. Hazel’s mark on those who loved her cannot be overstated. She was steadfast in her love of her family and each one knew in their hearts that she loved without condition. She was unyielding to disappointment and adversity, which she experienced from time to time during her 96 years of life. She was an example to her children and grandchildren of a person who was content in life, enjoyed work but was not ruled by it and held strong in her faith and church life. Her values of hard work, perseverance, and frugality shaped those that she raised, and they are all better for it. Those tenants of life remain with the twenty-two loved ones that survive her as they hold close the memory of those piercing blue eyes and quick wit. Services to honor Hazel will be held 9:30 EST Friday, August 12, 2022, at Good Hope Cemetery with Reverend David Kassi and Kyle Peddie officiating. Adams Funeral Home is charge of the arrangements.
