James Roy Butler, 82 of Greensboro, passed away Monday, October 3, 2022, at his home. Roy was born in Altha, Florida to the late William and Ruth Butler and had worked as a road crew supervisor for the Florida Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God and loved fishing and farming. Other than his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Butler; a sister Deloris Cooley and his brothers, Franklin and Thomas Butler. Survivors include his son, James Eric Butler of Bristol; his daughters, Alisa Butler of Greensboro and Kimberly Causey and her husband Johnny of Bristol; his grandchildren, Gavin Butler, Colton Butler, Justin Butler, Charles Anthony Sheffield, Jr. and Haley Charbonneau; his aunt, Juanita Mears of Altha and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Services to honor James and his life will be held 11:00 a.m. CST Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clyde Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the chapel. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
