Obituary of Ruby C. Eberly

Ruby Cathryn Eberly of Blountstown passed away June 9, 2023 at her home. She was 88 years old. Ruby was born in Shipshewana, Indiana on June 6, 1935 to the late Percy and Artie Miller. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Eberly, sister, Anna Grayce Hooley and brother, Paul J. Miller. Survivors include her children: son, Doyle Eberly and his wife Ruth Ann, their children Robin & Simon Haussmann, and Derek & Lana Eberly, son, Dana Eberly and his wife Debra and their daughter Jessica, daughter, Charla Eberly and her son Steven, daughter, Conda Schellenger and her children Emilee & Adam Kravatz, and Seth Schellenger, daughter, Pam Skinner and her husband Greg and their son Camden and Hope, and Bob Eberly and his wife Kim, and children Clay, Katie, and William, along with great grandchildren Nariah, Jayden, Hannah, Lukas, Eliana, Jude, & Asher. Ruby dedicated her life to serving others. In her late teens she worked as a volunteer in an assisted living establishment where she met her husband. She and John moved from Indiana to Blountstown in 1968 to serve as pastor of Oak Terrace Mennonite Church. They dedicated their lives in this capacity for over 19 years. In their lifetime she and John fostered more than 80 children in their home and opened their doors to over thirty others who needed housing. Her acts of service continued up to one month ago through volunteer work at Blountstown’s Ministry Center. While these acts of service were visible to others, perhaps her most significant service went unseen by most. Ruby faithfully cared for her husband John for 32 years after he suffered a life altering cerebral hemorrhage. Her dedication to him through those years remains a powerful testimony to the community, her family, and friends. Ruby’s caring and giving heart touched the lives of many. Her greatest desire was for people to know Jesus Christ through the life she lived. A memorial service to honor Ruby’s life will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dustin Malphurs officiating.
