Obituary of Mittie B Pate

Mittie Ruth Pate, 89 of Blountstown, passed away Monday August 28, 2023, at her daughters home. Mittie was born in Clarksville to the late Henry and Mandy (Williams) Burch and was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was a housewife to Thad Pate and enjoyed fishing and camping but most of all she enjoyed cleaning inside and out. Mittie dedicated her life to Jesus over forty-two years ago and received an award for the best adult Sunday School teacher from the First Assembly of God in Blountstown in 1996. Church was her foundation and was very active in the Church of God with Sister Patsy Folks as well. She attended Blountstown Community Church for the past thirteen years. Other than her parents Mittie is preceded in death by her husband Thad Thomas Pate; her daughters, Janet Pate and Sherry Kay Sangster; a grandson, Chris Sangster and a great grandson Timber Johnson; her brothers, R.H. Burch and Edward Eugene Burch; her sisters, Margaret Linton, Allie Bea Williams and Ruby Bridges. Survivors include her daughters, Peggy Shuler of New Berry, South Carolina, Lynn Hamlin and her husband Jamie of Crestview and Teresa Ann Johnson of Blountstown; her sister, Else Price of Wewahitchka, a brother-in-law, Elbert Williams; her grandchildren, Bobby Sangster Jr., Melissa Maloy, Jason Sangster, Megan Yarbrough, Daniel Shuler, Raven Jacobs, Bryce Brown, Bradley Johnson and Derek Johnson and seventeen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Services to honor Mittie’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Larry Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
