Alton Coxwell, Jr. 79 of Blountstown passed away Wednesday, July 20, in Blountstown. Mr. Coxwell was born in Blountstown to the late Alton Sr. and Malzie Coxwell and served a short period in the US Army before moving back to Calhoun County. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church and was the owner and operator of Coxwell Wholesale Bait for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife Bernice of Blountstown; three sons Rickey Coxwell and his wife Sue, Mickey Coxwell and Chuck Coxwell all of Blountstown; two daughters Peggy Thrasher and her husband Mark of Centreville, Mississippi and Cathy McWaters and her husband Bo of Clarksville; seven grandchildren, Heather, Chase, Leslie, Cayla, Camren, Megan and Carly and one great grandchild, Logan.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, July 23, 2011 from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown with Reverend David Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday, July 22, at the Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 674-5449.
