Ray was my first cousin. Our fathers were brothers. I remember my father (Dock Dickens) saying that Ray could have made a career out of his music, if he had so chosen. It seems that the only time I saw Ray as an adult was when he came back to Mississippi for family funerals. He was a pallbearer for my dad in 1997. The next time I saw Ray was in the summer of 2008. My husband and I were travelling through Florida and I was determined to look him up. We had an enjoyable visit with him that day. I was so sorry to learn that he had lost his battle with cancer. Our condolences go out to all the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ray's family during this time. I played high school football with Ray in 1952 and again in 1954 at Sumrall High School.

Sue & Family, I am so sorry to have heard of the passing of our great friend "Ray". Tony told me this evening as we were doing our catch up for the week, 9/11/2001. You know I don't go out much and I don't get a paper so I don't hear of the friends I am losing, I kept Ray in my prayers and now I will hold all of you in my prayers that God will help to heal your grief and that he will be with each of you as you go through all the days ahead. I know it will be hard for you to go to church and sit in the pew that the two of you always shared, for I still can see in my mind the Hatcher's, the Coker's, Laurise, sitting in the pews on the left side of the church, always the left side. Yes my Mom and so many others on the right side, seems we all had our side to sit on and the same pew. So many memories of so many dear friends and loved ones at Dalkeith Baptist Church. I love you Sue and you mean so much to me as did Ray, he was a teaser, and a card but a loving friend to all. He will be missed by so many far and wide, but none of us will miss him as you and your children and Grandchildren and his family. He is a person that will always be in our minds eye and our hearts. God Bless you and keep you is my prayer. Loving you always, Mattie Jane.
