Obituary of Eunice Jernigan

Eunice Jernigan passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 in Huntsville, Alabama. Eunice was known as Mama and Meme to her grandchildren and great grandchildren she spent most of her life in Florida. Her early life was spent in Clarksville, then Marianna and Jacksonville. The last 13 years she has lived in Huntsville, Alabama. Eunice enjoyed walks on the beach when she lived in Jacksonville, Florida where she lived for 23 years. She was a gifted seamstress, sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, in fact her great granddaughters Emily and Scarlett are wearing dresses that Mama made her. Survivors include her children, Faye McGriff and husband Ken, Sue Allison and Mike Allison; her grandchildren, Tony, Heather and Nicole and six great grandchildren. Eunice loved gospel music and would play it loudly in her room at the nursing home. Her cd player with a cd of the Florida Boys, one of her favorite gospel groups, was found however the cord was missing. Someone must have taken it because of how loud she would play it when she didn’t have her hearing aid in. We always enjoyed hearing her many childhood stories about going to the turpentine still and swimming in the swimming hole off highway 73 with her cousin Yuanita, she loved fried oysters and an occasional glass of wine. Mama was a strong hardworking woman of faith she loved god and her family and will be deeply missed by us all. Her stories and her example will live with us forever. A service to celebrate the life of Eunice Jernigan will be held Sunday September 6, 2020 at 1: 00p.m C.S.T. With Interment following to Travers Rest in Clarksville, Florida.
