Obituary of Lorene Shelton

Lorene Shelton, 98 of Altha, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021 at her home. Lorene was born in Altha, January 6, 1923, to the late Joe E. Summerlin and Martha (Whitfield) Summerlin. She was the store manager for Shelton’s Store for many years. She is preceded in death by her sons, Harold, Ralph and Lamar Shelton; her brother, James E. “Bud” Summerlin; sisters, Lucille Watford, Elizabeth Whiley and Lois Traylor; her grandchildren, Ken, Tony and Kellie Shelton. Survivors include a brother, J.L. Summerlin and his wife Myrl of Altha; her sisters, Margie Hollis of Altha and Louise Nichols of Sink Creek; grandchildren, Greg Shelton and his wife Shelia K. of Altha, Andy Shelton and his wife Ramona of Marianna, Karen Shelton of Altha and Brent Shelton and his wife Lesley of Spanish Fort, Alabama; daughters in law Lenore, Judy and Shelia D. Shelton of Altha; eight great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and other extended family including a wonderful caregiver, Michael Falgout and devoted friend Helen Flanders. Special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice for all the special loving care they provided. Funeral services to celebrate and to honor Lorene’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Page Pond Assembly of God near Altha. Interment will follow in Old Shiloh Cemetery.
