Obituary of Ronal Dewey Wood

Ronal Dewey Wood, 83, of Clarksville, FL, passed away in his home with loved ones on May 14, 2021. Ronal was born November 2, 1937, in Blountstown, Florida. He graduated from Blountstown High School in 1955. He married Gail Newman in October of 1957 and they had two children together. He served in the Navy as a first-class diver and worked in the Explosives Ordinance Disposal. Some of his Duty Stations included Rota, Spain and Keflavik, Iceland. He retired as a Lieutenant in 1976 after 22 years of service. In 1980, him, his wife, and son started Explosives and Diving Services, where they specialized in bridge demolition and commercial diving. He enjoyed having many family reunions and parties out at the lake at his house in Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Nettie (Pitts) Wood, a brother, Billy Joe Wood, a brother, Charles Frank Wood Sr. and a sister, Betty Sue Doyle. He is survived by his wife, Gail Wood, of Clarksville, FL; a son, Ronnie Wood and wife Kim of Clarksville, FL; a daughter, Patty; two granddaughters, Kelley Wood of Tallahassee, FL, and Kassie Wood of Clarksville, FL; one grandson, Mathew Wood of Clarksville, FL; one great-grandson, Jayden Jackson of Clarksville, FL; two sisters, Frances Price of Blountstown, FL, and Linda Grantham, of Blountstown, FL; two brothers, C.B. Wood of Blountstown, FL, Donald Wood and wife Sandy of Tallahassee, FL, and several nieces and nephews. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorialization will be by cremation.
