Obituary of Betty Jean Hodge

Betty Jean (Mears) Hodge, 73 of Blountstown passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Tallahassee. Betty was born on December 11, 1947, in Grand Ridge to the late CH and Helen Mears (Hathaway) and was their first-born child. Betty was a Military Wife and enjoyed her travels abroad the States through the years before returning to Blountstown and family. She enjoyed shopping and especially a good Goodwill Store. She did love a bargain. She truly enjoyed talking to people and making them smile and laugh. She never met a stranger and the simplest things could make her happy. She had a big heart and stood tall in what she believed in. Other than her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Mears. Survivors include her husband, Robert Donald Hodge; her sons, Michael Hartzell of Altha, Brian Hartzell and his Wife Shelly of Panama City, and Greg Hartzell of Blountstown, Draven and Christian Hodge of Blountstown; her brothers, Steve Mears and wife Pat of Blountstown, Donald Mears of Perry, Billy Mears Sr & (Betty) of Marianna, Clinton Mears & (Laurie) of Blountstown, Jackie Mears of Lake Talquin; her sister, Shirley Davis of Blountstown; her Beloved Grandchildren; Tyler, Chance, Dakota and Marissa, all of Panama City and her Great Grandchildren, Asia, Raven Lynn, and Chase Cortrell. Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Altha. The Family will have a time of visitation on Saturday, August 21, 2021, from 5-7 pm at Adams Funeral Home. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
