I had known and worked with Todd for nearly 20 years. What started as a vendor-customer relationship quickly evolved into a friend-friend relationship. I worked with Todd while he was in Palm Beach and continued to work with him after he relocated to the Tallahassee area. Todd and I loved to discuss the small and quirky towns of Florida. He would often mention the name of some small town off the beaten path and we would laugh at how the name of the town came to be....such as Two Egg or Sopchoppy. I will greatly miss Todd and our conversations. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as we all grieve his loss. With my Deepest Sympathy, Brian Whaley

It broke my heart when I heard we lost our friend Todd on Sunday. Todd was such a special person whom I genuinely enjoyed getting to know over the years. He was a 'diamond in the rough'. His passion for life was obvious, both professionally and personally. He exemplified such dedication to his work which will certainly be irreplacable. He often spoke of the love he had for his Mother and sisters-- and the care his took for his Mother represents his big heart. I enjoyed our conversations and lunches and hearing of his passion for collecting semi-precious stones, gold, LED lights, etc.-- I learned so much from him as he shared his diverse and great knowledge with others.... Even more, I'll miss his 'spunk' and his smile. It won't be the same without you Todd. I'm going to miss you buddy. On behalf of all the staff at Williams Communications, we thank you for your friendship and great company while we had the true privilege and honor of knowing you. We all seem to share the same thoughts: "Thanks for the cherished memories!!!". : ). Our deepest sympathy to your family and all your friends. Hilarie Geraldi

Ms. Rahn & Ms. Carter, Words cannot express my sorrow for the loss of your brother Todd. I am deeply saddened by Todd's death and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Todd was more than just a friend and co-worker; he was a truly amazing person who went out of his way to ensure communications systems used by law enforcement performed their best. His dedication, perseverance and expertise will surely be missed. Todd’s passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Todd's memory will always remain deep within my heart. With deepest sympathy, Major Steve Williams Florida Highway Patrol

I have known Todd Preston for many years both as a coworker and as a friend. Some folks that didn't know Todd well might consider him possibly a bit too intense and at times a bit cantankerous. However, I found Todd to be humorous, brilliant in knowledge of both technical issues and of life, and a truly warm and generous person. He was dedicated to the agency and to the missions given to him. Much of the joy he found in life was taking care of his mother and making sure she was happy and comfortable. He enjoyed sharing stories about how some of the simplest things would make her happy. He loved his mother, his sister and his extended family. Much of Todd's giving heart was hidden from view, his work done behind the scenes, not looking for recognition or praise. I will miss our talks about family, world finances, rare coins, guns and the lunch time waitresses. He was a true friend and a good man. I will miss him.

I have known Todd for about 20 years, mainly while working with him in the Joint Task Force State Law Enforcement Radio System project. As you possibly know, Todd was not afraid to speak his mind. And with his technical expertise combined with his boldness he was able to communicate effectively both his appreciation of vendor accomplishments but likewise any vendor short comings. Todd led the state with FWCC as the lead technological agency in finding 800 MHz system issues and determining potential solutions. In his latter years, after becoming the supervisor of the FWCC Communications Section, Todd seemed to mellow out. However his combination of technical knowledge and boldness enabled him to be one of the most effective State Technical Subcommittee Chairman that the JTF has ever had. With Todd's lead the state accomplished much. I for one will miss him. Fred Malfa of FHP

Todd, We and all the people you worked with will miss you greatly. You were wonderfully dedicated to your position to ensure the best communications for the officers and field personnel of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) has lost a true advocate for radio coverage and operability. Your development of the letter to the legislature from the agencies will live on and be a tool to gain better coverage and help us migrate to newer technology. Thank you for all you have done and your leadership in open discussions and as chair of the Technical Committee for the Joint Task Force Board. I will miss you deeply as a friend and appreciate your devotion as a son to taking care of your Mother. I'm sure you are sharing a little more time with her now. Perhaps God sent you an invitation to be with her. God send and rest in peace. Your legacy of your devotion to communications will always live on. Bruce Meyers
