I remember once when we were on vacation in Atlanta, Alan got away from me and the girls. We were flying to Seattle Washington to see my brother and his wife. All of us were lost; but I told him to stay together. He did not listen and soon we could not see each other. I had two young girls with me; so I had to make a choice to go on and get on the plane. I was crying my eyeballs out because Alan was out there with no money, no
identification and no phone. I called my children and told them he would be calling for some of them to come get him. But .... there was a seat on the plane that had to be fixed before take off and Alan with his charm talked a stranger into letting him use their phone to call and say he was on his way to our plane. I was soooo glad when I seen him and yes for the rest of the trip, he kept money, and identification!!!!

Pawpaw used to always watch wrestling when I was little, around 5-6 years old, and I'd watch it with him. He'd be on one side of the couch and I'd be on the other, caged in by all the couch pillows. We'd watch and watch, but when a gross or painful looking part came on, I'd hide in the pillow cage until it was safe and sound.
Up until I got my license, Pawpaw would take me to and from school. I bet he didn't enjoy getting up at the crack of dawn to get me up and to school. Before school, when I'd be getting ready, I'd watch my PBS cartoons and sit in the living room. I'd always wait until I got ready to leave to put my shoes on, and he'd help me. I'd sit on the couch, him standing in front of me, and put my foot on his knee. Then he'd tie my shoes for me and get me to school.
After school was probably the best part. He'd either be waiting at the bus stop in the Jeep or in the Student pick-up line at school for me. He'd be listening to his "oldies", ALWAYS. We'd ride back home where he and my granny would have me a drink and a snack for me. Maybe they spoiled me a little, but I'll never forget those days.
*R.I.P Pawpaw. I love you.♥

Alan and I had been married approximately three years when I became a correctional officer working the midnight shift. He had always watched "the game" at his Dad's house until now. He had to keep the kids because I had to go into work. I was about asleep when I heard "!@#$ REF %!#% COME ON REF!! YOU BETTER GET IT RIGHT, REF!!" I entered the living room thinking I was about to have to help fight someone when I learned what "REF"
meant.

Mr. Bridges came into to work one morning threw his bag down and his food i said what is wrong with you he say nothing then out of nowhere he screamed my d-m- boat is ruined and he told me what happened i laughed i said i'm happy because you need to stop putting it in the water then jumping off for a swim but he pouted all day he would poke his mouth out and it would be so funny. I worked with him from the first day he got hired for CCA he was friendly outgoing loved to travel and go to the movies boy did i get tired of hearing about Transformers, and 2011 and he was such a big fan of Alabama until i started to like them and i'm a Seminole fan i could get him worked up if i talked about that cd he played all the time in his truck i would say i bought you a Michael Jackson and he would read me good if you know what i mean. I love you Bridges and your memories will live on with me.

To Grace, and all of Alan's family... I have witnessed, through Grace, how difficult this journey has been in these last months but I also know that God gave Alan time to spend with family and friends before being called Home. Grace, you showed me a picture of Alan with his signed Football from the Alabama Crimson Tide and you told me how excited Alan was when one of the members of the Coaching Staff brought it to him. I know he had hoped to see one more kick off this fall and we know that he will from the best seats in the house. May the memories you all shared with Alan comfort you, and your extended family, during this difficult time and I pray that God will fill you with strength, lift your hearts up, and wipe away your tears.
