Obituary of Bobby Joe Atkins

Bobby Joe Atkins passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Blountstown and he worked for Big River Cypress and Hardwood for many years. He was of the holiness faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Lee and Beatrice (Bryant) Adkins; a brother, Joseph Whittington; a niece, Kara Victoria Weeks; and a nephew, Tanner Lemiux. Survivors include his ex-wife, Mary Nell Atkins; two daughters, Stephanie Martinez and her husband, Antonio, and Leathie Swearington; a son, Tommy Swearington and his wife, Ariel; six grandchildren, Alexis, Julian, and Nicholas Martinez and Brayden, Reyna, and Jaedyn Swearington; three sisters, Nancy Mae Weeks and friend, Clifford McDaniel, Barbara McDaniel, and Joe Helen Lemiux; two brothers, Lonnie Herrelson and David Ard; ten nieces, Wendi Steward, Jahna McDaniel, Brandi Rabon, Shaylynn and Desirea Herrelson, Aleigha, Ashten, and Gabriela Whittington, and Susan Kroft; three nephews, Cliffy McDaniel, Willard and Kevin Whittington; and a host of great nieces and nephews; and good friends, Frankie Baker and Dougie Brackins. Graveside services will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, December 21 at Nettle Ridge Cemetery with Reverend Tim Rhoads officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
