I did not know Ms. Shirley but I have worked with her daughter Angela. If Angela is any reflection of Ms. Shirley, I am sure she was a fine person. Angela, you and your family will be in my prayers and I am sorry for your loss.

Shirley was a true friend. I met Shirley when I started working with the State over 34 years ago with the old Comptrollers office. She was a single mother raising 3 young girls on her own. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed, those same 3 girls have grown into beautiful young women with children of their own. Shirley loved her girls and her grandchildren very much. During her working career she was very loyal and dedicated to her job. She was a lot like me. Very little room for grey areas, things were either right or wrong. Rest in peace my dear friend, you will be missed by many.

Shirley was my supervisor with Dept. of Agruculture. She was one of the best bosses I have had. She was truly sweet, honest, caring and very loving. One time myself and another co-worker even worked when we had the flu, dedicated we were. I remember one time, end of the fiscal year stress. I remember one morning i was late by 8 minutes and Shirley told me i had to sign out for 15 minutes. i was so agrivated, i walked out and said i will be back in 7 minutes. If i was late a few minutes, she didn't say anything after that. We were all stressed out at the time. That was when we only had one phone per office, four in our office, times have changed. She will really be missed by all.

Mrs. Eddie Mae and Shirley's family, I am out of town and was checking the obituary for a family member and discovered Shirley's notice at the same time. My heart goes out to you. I pray the Holy Spirit gives you comfort in the days ahead when Shirley will be missed more and more. With love to one of my sister's in the Lord, Gayle (Ms. Hornsby's hairdresser and long time friend of Shirley)
