Sorry that your heart is breaking - Maybe with time, your heart can heal. It's not much
But you are my favorite sister-in-law.

I met Mrs. Cone long before I ever knew Caren, back when I was plain ole Gail Callinan. Years later when I was in my 20's and Caren and I were in Delta Mu together in Homestead, Caren had a meeting at her mom's house. She introduced me to her mom, Shirley Cone. I took 1 look at her and said "Did you used to work at Caribbean Elementary?" Mrs. Cone confirmed that she had and she recognized me from when I had known her in 4th & 5th grade. She looked exactly the same. We shared stories about the teachers back then and the school, which was a 1 of a kind school back then. Mrs Cone was such a wonderful person, always there with a smile whenever you saw her. Although I hadn't seen her in many years, I will miss her. My prayers are with the family. May God give you strength and Peace through this difficult time.

One time I was very late to school. I can't remember why, probably out in the parking lot smoking a cig!. I thought: Hey, I have an 'in' at the office! Certainly my best friends Mom and next door neighbor, Mrs Cone, would help me.
I went into the office and saw Mrs Cone (I never have called her Shirley). She was at her desk and I asked her to come to the counter, and whispered to her that I wanted her to give me a pass of some kind so I wouldn't be in trouble. In that great accent she had, she said "Wellllll Liz, I can't do that. You just have to go on in to class." She had a sly smile, and I knew she was right. I felt so ashamed at that moment, but it taught me a lesson. It is not about 'who you know'. Thanks Mrs Cone, for doing the right thing!

My sincere condolences to Connie, Caren, Frank and all who loved her. She is part of my childhood memories since I lived next door starting at age 14. She was a beautiful, classy lady who we will all miss dearly. May she rest in peace and may that peace extend to your family.
